The Audubon Zoo Commissary is accepting applications for a commissary keeper internship program. This internship runs a minimum of 12 weeks and is unpaid.

This internship provides practical hands-on experience for those interested in zoo commissary operations and nutrition. As an intern, you will be an integral part of the Animal Staff team. The Commissary staff is responsible for providing diets, feed and other animal supplies to all animal departments of the Zoo. As such, you will be exposed to the inner workings of the Zoo Environment.

As an intern, you will work alongside Commissary staff experiencing a wide variety of diet preparations. You will learn about nutritional values and diverse animal dietary requirements, dietary enrichment, quality control, inventory management, and facility upkeep.

Open to responsible adults who can work a minimum of 3 mornings a week (5 hours per day) for a minimum of 12 weeks. Schedules are flexible and more hours may be available if desired. Applicants must be willing and able to work in all weather, and will need a current TB test and Hepatitis A/B vaccination.
