The Phoenix Zoo is currently seeking a Construction Technician perform minor renovations, construct various structures, and perform maintenance on exhibits throughout the Zoo. Construction Technicians must be able to construct and repair woodwork and structures by working from a blueprint, hang and finish sheetrock, perform roof installation and repair, and perform concrete work. This person will also be responsible for building, repairing, and installing exhibits, cages, crates, gates, decks, partitions, walls, ceiling tile, floor tile, building framework and trim.
Minimum requirements for this position include five years experience in construction industry, zoo, campus, or industrial maintenance with emphasis in building construction at a Journeyman Level, general knowledge of all phases of building construction, knowledge of the application and use of equipment such as table saws, nail guns, drills, radial arm saw, sanders, jointers, screw guns, etc.. and possession of a valid driver’s license. All Phoenix Zoo employees are required to pass pre-employment background checks including a drug test, this position will also require annual TB testing.
