Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo is currently seeking qualified applicants for the Spring semester.
-This position is a Non-Paid, Full-Time Internship in the Asian Gardens Department.
-Applications are due by January 2, 2013 for the Spring semester which begins February 28, 2013.
-Housing is currently not available.
The Asian Gardens department has a diverse collection which includes, but is not limited to Tiger, Sloth Bear, Greater One-Horned Rhino, Clouded Leopard and Malayan Tapir. Responsibilities include; assisting animal care staff in the husbandry routine, maintenance of animal exhibits and night houses, animal enrichment, public presentations and behavioral observations.
Qualified applicants must be comfortable in a team environment, possess excellent communication skills. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, move heavy objects, and work outdoors in typical Florida climate.
All positions require a minimum high school diploma with preference given to those with a university degree in Animal Sciences or related field. Interns are required to work different shift changes and 4o hours a week. All offers of internship are contingent upon successful completion of a background screening.
