Tulsa Zoo Management Inc. is seeking a new team member for the position of full time Education Resource Specialist. The Education Resource Specialist reports to the Curator of Education and is responsible for all non-living resources housed within the Education Department at the Tulsa Zoo.

Responsibilities

The Education Resource Specialist supports the Tulsa Zoo educational mission by ensuring that all non-living education resources are properly prepared, maintained, catalogued, and managed. The Specialist will also participate in training and will present interpretive education programming.

 Prepare/repair, research, process, and maintain biofacts (biological artifacts) and cultural/archaeological artifacts

 Recommend and implement collection policies and plans for non-living resources

 Manage zoo library

 Serve as office manager for the education department

 Complete data entry into all databases

 Train staff and volunteers on biofact handling and interpretation

 Present interpretive educational programming as needed

Qualifications

o Bachelor's degree in education, biology, zoology, museum sciences, or a related field

o Minimum of 1-3 years experience working with biological specimens

o Working knowledge of databases, computer systems, and relevant technology

o Experience working with library systems preferred

o Excellent verbal and written communication skills

o Must be creative, flexible, and organized

o Ability to work with both adult and teen volunteers

o Experience in interpretive education preferred but ability in public speaking required

o Some evening, holiday, and weekend work will be required
