Tulsa Zoo Management Inc. is seeking a new team member for the position of full time Education Resource Specialist. The Education Resource Specialist reports to the Curator of Education and is responsible for all non-living resources housed within the Education Department at the Tulsa Zoo.
Responsibilities
The Education Resource Specialist supports the Tulsa Zoo educational mission by ensuring that all non-living education resources are properly prepared, maintained, catalogued, and managed. The Specialist will also participate in training and will present interpretive education programming.
Prepare/repair, research, process, and maintain biofacts (biological artifacts) and cultural/archaeological artifacts
Recommend and implement collection policies and plans for non-living resources
Manage zoo library
Serve as office manager for the education department
Complete data entry into all databases
Train staff and volunteers on biofact handling and interpretation
Present interpretive educational programming as needed
Qualifications
o Bachelor's degree in education, biology, zoology, museum sciences, or a related field
o Minimum of 1-3 years experience working with biological specimens
o Working knowledge of databases, computer systems, and relevant technology
o Experience working with library systems preferred
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills
o Must be creative, flexible, and organized
o Ability to work with both adult and teen volunteers
o Experience in interpretive education preferred but ability in public speaking required
o Some evening, holiday, and weekend work will be required
