Maintenance Technician (Welder)

The Phoenix Zoo is currently seeking a full time Maintenance Technician. The Maintenance Technician will perform skilled work involving welding, brazing, soldering, cutting, sawing, and fabricating new designs for structures throughout the zoo. This person will also perform routine and preventative maintenance, assist with installation and repair of equipment and fixtures, and assist with prototype designs.

Minimum qualifications for this position include 5 years experience with emphasis in welding at a Journeyman level, familiarity with metal fabrication safety and practices, ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings when necessary, equipment knowledge pertaining to arc welders, soldering irons, acetylene/map torches and cutting, plasma cutters, etc. All Phoenix Zoo employees are required to pass pre-employment background checks including a drug test. This position will also require a valid driver’s license and annual TB testing.
