Session I – February through June {Submission deadline Nov. 2nd}Session II – July through November {Submission deadline April 2nd}Intern for the Tourism Department at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, a 1700+ acre preserve with 16 endangered species (plus many others) under our care. We are located just outside Glen Rose, Texas, and an hour and a half from the Fort Worth/Dallas Metroplex. Housing and a stipend are offered to the right candidate. You need to be in your last two years of college or a recent graduate. Your area of study should include tourism, wildlife tourism, biology, education, wildlife studies or animal care and you must possess a valid driver’s license. We do conduct drug tests and are an EOE. You will live inside one of our main pastures where your neighbors will be ostrich, rhino, wildebeest, deer and several additional species. Duties include giving guided tours to our guests utilizing busses, vans and jeeps. You will explain to the guests about our animals and some of the conservation initiatives in use for their benefit. You will also be expected to train in other areas of the Tourism Department such as working at Admissions, assisting in the Nature Store and Café. You must have the ability to lift 50 lbs.if necessary as keeping the vehicles supplied with feed for the animals will be one area in which you will assist; also maintaining cleanliness and full gas tanks. You will also be working in varied weather and hot and cold temperatures. You will be required to work on weekends and therefore your days off will be during the week.
