How to Find Animal Information

AZA is the professional membership association for zoos and aquariums. Our primary role is to provide information and services for our members, including conferences and workshops, monitoring legislation, fundraising, and other professional services.

Unfortunately we cannot provide information about animals to the general public. However, our members — accredited zoos and aquariums throughout the United States, Canada, and Bermuda — ARE the animal experts and have lots of experience teaching the public about animals and conservation.

Ask Our Members!

Please visit our online database of AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums and visit their web sites to look for animal and conservation information online. Many AZA zoo and aquarium web sites provide services such as Ask a Zookeeper or feature detailed fact sheets for the animals in their collection. We have over two hundred members, so you'll have lots of excellent information to choose from.

You can also visit AZA's Conservation & Science Department for fact sheets on our zoo- and aquarium-based conservation programs, including:

Endangered Species Program

The Endangered Species Program is administered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Visit the Kids Corner for more information.
